If you have donated to us in the past, we thank you and look forward to receiving your support again this year. If you have never donated, please read on and consider making this year the first.

The Berwick Area Ambulance Association, Inc. has been in existence as the local ambulance service in the Greater Berwick Area since 1959. Our ambulance service is an IRS 501c3 non-profit corporation. We receive no local tax dollars and operate solely from the support we receive annually from this subscription drive combined with the revenue we obtain from the proceeds of insurance billing to Medicare, Medicaid, Commercial Insurance Payers and patients directly. We also benefit at times from the generosity of local residents, who have given sacrificially. Periodic grants targeted for specific life-saving equipment purchases from the Berwick Health and Wellness Foundation have also helped to support our operation.

Like any other community organization or business, our association faces economic challenges. With sixty percent of our revenue coming from Medicare and Medicaid (at fixed rates) controlled by government decisions, our administration is faced with the challenge of balancing increased costs while at the same time experiencing tightening revenue streams.

So as we seek your support, we write to you to ask that you consider donating an amount of your choice above and beyond the amounts that are printed on the enclosed donation form. Your additional donation will help us to continue to purchase cutting-edge life-saving equipment and provide adequate compensation and benefits for our dedicated staff members while maintaining a local emergency resource that is administered by local individuals who live and reside right next door to you.

Our staff consists of full- and part-time paid professional Paramedics and Emergency Medical Technicians. We provide round-the-clock emergency and non-emergency Advanced and Basic Life Support ambulance transports along with wheelchair van transport services. Our association is licensed by the Pennsylvania Department of Health as an Advanced Life Support (paramedic) ambulance service. As part of our mission, we also support neighboring volunteer ambulance companies by sharing our paramedic services to combine for an upgrade in care during life-threatening events when dispatched by either the Columbia or Luzerne County 9-1-1 centers.

We close by appealing to you for your consideration as you plan for the future. Subscribers to this campaign do not pay any out-of-pocket expense beyond insurance reimbursement for medically necessary, emergency/9-1-1 ambulance services.

Company Information

Berwick Area Ambulance Association Inc. is a non-profit organization providing 24 hours a day, 7 days a week ambulance coverage to the Greater Berwick Area and many surrounding communities and has been in service since 1959. We provide 911 service coverage to over 250 square miles in both Columbia and Luzerne Counties. Our ambulance services are based out of two locations one in Berwick Borough and one in Mocanaqua staged at the Mocanaqua Volunteer Fire Company.
